ABOUT SHARON MILLER
I have always loved telling stories.
I am Sharon Miller, a writer, director, animation voice and casting director, and teacher. Different disciplines, one enduring passion: the story, the characters and the people who bring them to life.
I have been lucky enough to build a career that lets me move between them, drawing on everything I have learned as an actor, writer, director and collaborator.
MY STORY
From the stage to the studio.
I went to theatre school as a child and studied English and Drama at university. Acting was where I began, and being on the other side of the camera or microphone has shaped everything I have done since.
Directing for the theatre and television drama brought me into close collaboration with actors and production teams. Writing taught me to look at the structure and rhythm of a story. Voice directing brings those instincts together.
I have worked in Britain and Los Angeles, with established performers and people taking their very first steps. Whatever the project, it always begins with understanding the story and helping people do their best work.
IN SHARON’S WORDS
“I do what I do because I have never wanted to do anything else. And I love what I do.”
THE WORK
Four creative disciplines. One outlook.
Each part of my working life informs the others. Explore the different ways I help stories find their voice.
HOW I WORK
Care for the story. Respect for the people.
Great work happens when everyone understands the story, trusts one another and has the confidence to contribute. I believe in thorough preparation and clear decisions, but just as much in warmth, humour and the discoveries that happen when talented people work together.
That approach is the same whether I am guiding an actor through a recording, developing a script with a producer, directing a drama or teaching a group of students.
